Research: Pre-Construct Archaeology

Pre-Construct Archaeology Ltd are one of the largest archaeological contractors in the country. They work extensively in London and South-Eastern England and continue to excavate significant Romano-British sites.

CIAS and Dr James Gerrard have been involved in providing specialist post-excavation services to PCA since 2011. Assessment and Publication reports on pottery, small finds and coins have been produced for a number of sites. These include deeply stratified urban sites at Drapers’ Gardens (City of London) and Bermondsey Abbey (Southwark) along with smaller scale projects such as the late Roman cemeteries at Trinity Street and Lant Street (Southwark).

These projects involve a close collaboration between a major provider of commercial services and a leading research intensive university. Our work has been carried out to rigorous professional standards and deadlines but also maximises the research potential of commercially generated archaeological data.
